Terms of Use

Last updated October 28, 2026

Version: 1.0
Effective: October 28, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Jonas Avellana, the sole proprietor who makes Shelley (“Shelley”, “we”, “us”). They cover your use of the Shelley app and this website. By creating an account or using Shelley, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Shelley.

Who can use Shelley

  • You must be 13 or older, or older where your local law sets a higher minimum age for agreeing to data processing (16 in some EU countries).
  • If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need your parent’s or guardian’s permission, and they agree to these terms for you.
  • Shelley checks your age when you first sign in. Accounts that do not pass the check cannot use Shelley.
  • You need one account per person, and you are responsible for what happens in your account. Keep your sign-in method (Apple, Google or email) secure.

What Shelley is

Shelley is a personal styling assistant. You add your clothes, ask what to wear, and Shelley suggests outfits using AI. Shelley is currently free. Free use may be subject to usage limits, such as a weekly allowance, which we may change.

AI suggestions

Shelley’s replies, outfit suggestions, item details and generated images are made by AI. Please keep in mind:

  • They are suggestions only. Whether to follow them is your choice.
  • They can be wrong. AI can misread a photo, misjudge the weather, get a colour or material wrong, or say something that does not make sense.
  • They are not professional advice. Shelley does not give medical, health, safety, financial or legal advice. Do not rely on it for those things.
  • Generated images are illustrations. Product-style images and outfit pictures may not look exactly like your real clothes.

To use the AI features, you agree to the AI processing described in the Privacy Policy. You can withdraw that consent in the app at any time, but Shelley cannot work without it.

Your content

“Your content” means the photos, messages, notes and other material you add to Shelley.

  • You keep ownership of your content.
  • You give us permission to store, process and display your content, and to send it to our service providers (including AI providers), only to run Shelley for you. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that the Privacy Policy says may remain for a limited time.
  • You are responsible for your content. Only add photos and material you have the right to use.

Acceptable use

When you use Shelley, do not:

  • upload anything illegal, sexually explicit, violent, hateful or harassing;
  • upload photos of other people without their permission, or anything showing a child in an unsafe or sexual way;
  • upload content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • try to make the AI produce harmful, illegal or explicit content, or try to get around its safety checks;
  • try to break, overload, scrape, reverse engineer or get unauthorized access to Shelley or other people’s accounts;
  • use Shelley to build a competing product, or resell or redistribute it;
  • impersonate someone else or give false information to get around the age check.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abuse

Shelley has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. If we find content or behaviour that breaks these terms, we may remove the content, limit your access, or suspend or permanently close your account, without notice where the situation calls for it. Where the law requires, we will report illegal content to the authorities.

Reporting. If Shelley shows you a harmful, inappropriate or wrong reply or outfit, tap the flag next to the thumbs on that reply, pick a reason and add a note if you like. Your report goes to us for review. You can also email support@shelley.app to report anything that concerns you. We review reports promptly and act on them.

Ending your account

  • You can leave any time. Delete your account in the app: open the Profile tab, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete account and confirm with Delete permanently. This permanently deletes your account and your data, as described in the Privacy Policy. It cannot be undone.
  • We can end or suspend your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop offering Shelley. If we stop offering Shelley, we will try to give you reasonable notice first.

Our rights

Shelley, including the app, the website, the name, the logo and the design, belongs to us and our licensors. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Shelley app on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal use, as allowed by these terms and Apple’s App Store rules. Nothing else is licensed to you.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

Third-party services

Shelley relies on other services, such as Apple, Google, our AI providers and Apple Weather. They have their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

Changes to Shelley and these terms

We may change, add or remove features as Shelley develops. We may also update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Shelley after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not, delete your account.

Disclaimers

Shelley is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that Shelley will always be available, error-free or secure, or that its suggestions will be accurate or suitable for you. Some places do not allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Shelley. Our total liability for any claim about Shelley is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 50 Canadian dollars. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.

Apple and the App Store

If you got Shelley from Apple’s App Store, these points also apply:

  • These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for Shelley and its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Shelley. Contact us at support@shelley.app for help.
  • If Shelley fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Shelley.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims about Shelley, including product liability claims, claims that Shelley fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection, privacy or similar claims.
  • If someone claims that Shelley or your use of it infringes their intellectual property, we, not Apple, are responsible for dealing with that claim.
  • You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use Shelley.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute about these terms or Shelley will be decided by the courts of British Columbia, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, this does not take away any protection you have under the mandatory laws of the place where you live.

General

  • If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we do not enforce a part of these terms right away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours, for example if Shelley is sold, and we will tell you if that happens.
  • These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Shelley.
